Product description

QR Mine is a modern, digital lost and found. Users can generate unique QR codes through the mobile app and attach them to their items (e.g. cell phone, keys, etc.). Finders can contact the owner anonymously by scanning the QR codes with their phone camera. For this, the finders do not have to install the app.

Problem statement

Every year, items worth almost EUR 15 billion are lost in Germany. Most of them are either never found, or even if they are found, the search for the right owner is unsuccessful or requires a lot of effort.
Many finders shy away from the time investment for this reason. In addition, many want to remain anonymous and therefore avoid direct contact.

Project goal

The main goals of the development project, besides meeting the customer’s needs, were to develop an application that is easy to use and ensures data security and identity protection. In addition, users should be able to design their own QR codes, print them out or order them as label sheets via the app. The scalability of the app also had to be considered.

SOLUTION

After bilateral exchange with the customer, the decision has been made in favor of a hybrid mobile app, which is compatible with both IOS and Android. In this way, development and maintenance costs could be reduced. For this, alphaX used the framework “React native” for the development of the hybrid mobile app.
Apart from common features of a mobile app, Paypal has been integrated as a payment method for payment through Paypal account and bank transfer and credit cards (as a guest). By scanning QR codes, the finder can contact the owner (app user) via browser and send them a text, GPS coordinates of the item and images. For this purpose, a website (“finder track”) was developed, which is used as an interface between the owner (app user) and finder. The finder remains anonymous and does not have to install the app.
The mobile app is available in both English and German versions in Apple Store and Google Play, depending on the region.
